In April 2021 and July 2023, we had the great opportunity to take part in the Young Composers Project at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. During this project we worked with composers aged 12-18 to bring their creations to life, demonstrate the intricacies of the French Horn and introduce the participants to the amazing POC composers who have written for the instrument. We also demonstrated the versatility of the horn and how it can transcend genres.
This ended with a performance of the compositions that the participants had created. This was such an incredible project to be a part of and was such a privilege to be able to perform these wonderful works for the young composers.
CCep October hAlf term workshops
In October 2022, we joined Coventry Cultural Education Partnership in their half term activity offer. Over the course of 3 days we worked with young people aged 8-16 to create their own music inspired by Afrobeat, Indian Classical music, and Taiwanese music. The group formed their own bands, created their own lyrics and music, all of which was performed at the end of the sessions. This was an incredible feat for all the young people involved, and allowed them to access their creativity whilst exploring music in a way that many had not done before.
Birchfield jAzz fesitvAl
August 2023 brought a fun summer workshop at Birchfield Jazz Festival. Joined by Josh Vadiveloo on bass, and David Cefai on guitar, we explored music from the highlife genre with attendees of the festival and had some great collaborations with people of all ages and backgrounds.
